Program would not allow credit for foreign tax from 1099 div.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Very easy to use with the way they walk you through it. When all done the software goes thru your forms to make sure there’s no mistakes or anything that the IRS would red flag. Been using H&R for many years and trust them. I never had an audit.

I have used tax preparation software for decades. I shifted to H&R about 5 years ago. It has exceeded my expectations, reducing the stress of a stressful process. I am particularly pleased with the help in preparing the credit for prior year minimum tax and foreign tax credits. Very good package... 4 1/2 stars due to inability to add cash charities to original list. Frustrating as compared to adding non-cash charities to existing list. Using year to year facilitates adding data year to year.. A good price performer and will use again next year.

Cons: Time consuming

Lots of little things. For example, you have to shift to upper case every time you type in your state abbreviation. Each page should indicate whether they are asking for previous Federal or State information. Some inaccuracies. Reference to prior 1040 Line 75 should be Line 20a. Prior Iowa surtax is on Iowa 1040 Line 54, not Line 52.
