I have been using H&R for many years and have never been disappointed with in-house or online. I now use H&R Block Deluxe Software and am very pleased. When an 80 year old couple can figure their own taxes, I'd say it dosen't get much easier than that.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cannot efile because will not activation code that was provided. Also being was being double charged for trying to send electronically.

I had to file an amended return. This was very difficult, program was not very helpful or intuitive. Had to bumble my way through it.

This software is generally good. However, if you have a IRA contribution overpayment that needs to be reallocate to avoid penalties, the software is not able to clearly identify how to do it. I managed through trial and error on my own for several weeks. The guiding prompts are awful and don't explain anything to fix line 23 or 24 of the IRS form about excess IRA contributions.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to prepare

disappointed this year. had a few issues. Ist call was told they could not help (with what I thought was a simple question) because their system was down. would not take any information and was told to call back in a few days. 2nd time, had a question regarding how some input should be corrected. Was told they would get back to me. Heard from them 4 days later without an answer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
