Fairly straightforward to use. Interview process takes you through the required information in a logical sequence. Links to additional information and directly to the forms is useful.
The software works well. I had an issue with the foreign sales tax from a mutual fund. They wanted a country code to clear a red flagged issue. The statement I had did not include a country code due to what I can only assume is it being in a mutual fund. I was not able to proceed with the entry. I deleted it so I could complete my return. Fortunately, it was a very small amount and only impacted my return by - $4.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
The software gets the job done, and importing from the previous year's return is a good feature, but it does not handle royalty payments and lease bonus payments well. It forces lease bonus payments to be reported as "awards and prizes."
It works. I started using it when TurboTax did their huge price hike that their CEO got fired for. But don't expect any service. If your questions fall within the realm of their FAQ you're OK. Otherwise expect that you're going to be finding your own way through whatever problems you might encounter. Always check your returns. The software has bugs. You can use it to do the basic stuff, but be on the lookout for mistakes. Probably no different from working with someone that claims to do taxes.
