Good experience and future suggestion for Block

I bought the software in November and installed it, starting a few “what if” returns, and aside from a few glitches, settled on a nice refund. Once all the documents arrived, I bought the Oregon software and filed both. The Oregon refund arrived first, corrected upward, and I later received a letter explaining the unique Oregon “kickbacks” I had not filed for!
The federal refund arrived later, for the correct amount and on time.
HOWEVER, there is one important issue I would like to discuss. MICROSOFT, in forcing all Windows users to buy new hardware to run Windows 11 or abandon Windows, and forcing privacy-invading “upgrades,” has motivated some big manufacturers to offer LINUX-preloaded machines. LINUX is about to take off, but there us NO TAX PREP SOFTWARE FOR LINUX that allows direct e-filing, and no financial software that allows direct download connection to a bank
If Block can be the first tax prep software to do so, it will cement the allegiance of Linux users, including the ones who buy the new Linux-loaded machines. I plan to file my 2026 taxes on MacOS, but I would love to have the CHOICE to use Linux instead! Think about it!

The federal progam was was fine but the state (SC) not so much. Extra income was added to gross income in the state progam that just classified it as deductions not allowed by SC that were allowed by the federal return and that I had to attach a statement to my SC return explaining the diference. Problem was, nowhere in the program did it explain that difference so I had no clue. Finally had to visit a local Block office for a review and explanation of where that income came from.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Generally great program, but I hit an issue after importing tax data and then verifying it where the program crashed and corrupted the HR Block's tax file. I saved it regularly, but this crash trashed the saved file and left no backup. I was forced to reenter everything. I was not a happy camper. Support told me this was a known problem and there was nothing they could do about it. Taxcut should keep its own internal backup and not depend on the user knowing that there's an additional user option to create a backup.

Cons: Hard to import documents

I use to use Turbo Tax but with the cost and it was an online program, i thought i would try yours because it was a download because i never trust online i always like my information and programs what i pay for on my personal computer. Would use it next year.
