Good general tax program. The tax code is so unnecessarily complicated in some areas it is a little weak (we had an inherited IRA that gave me fits until I finally figured out the IRS jargon).
Excellent software: easy to use and very intuitive. I highly recommend H&R over others. Hopefully, you will port the software to Linux as well in the near future.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
THIS YEAR IT DOES NOT FLOW SMOOTHLY AND DOES NOT EXPLAIN INFO NEEDED VERY CLEARLY ALSO DOES NOT WORK WELL, NOT ABLE TO STATUS, SAYS IT HAS NOT BEEN FILED YET, HOWEVER , IT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED BY IRS
I was able to get my taxes filled out and filed with no difficulty. What I like most about H&R Block is that it doesn't ask lots of irrelevant questions. I have a complicated return with schedules: C, E, installment sale, investments, etc. It is still easy to fill out and file.
The software is pretty good, but if you are granted stock options by your employer the software is insufficient on how to properly enter the proceeds in your schedule D without double taxing yourself if your employer adds the proceeds and any withheld taxes in your W-2.
