Very little tax info that helps in prep. It is mainly good for transferring mum Dr's from year to year and doing arithmetic. Limited Value for the money.

I've used H&R Block software trouble free for at least 15 years but this year I had 2 issues with the software. The first one was over an update in Feb. which caused me to have to resubmit my Minnesota return. This update should have been done early January not the beginning of February. The 2nd issue which I don't think is corrected yet is in the MN. property tax refund interview you ask us to enter the amount for special refund from last year which is on line 15 not line 20 per your question in the interview section. Also, when viewing the whole form it says line 20 which is incorrect but when you print it out it says line 15 which is correct.
Pros: Easy to prepare

The constant series of updates all through the filing season, with no clear explanation of what is being changed means I cannot file with confidence until April 15-- and last year there were updates after that. Software should be tested before release, not using customers as your testers.
Cons: Hard to prepare

I have been using HR Block Tax Software since it was first released. It is easy to use, simply enter the information from your tax form into the electronic form (or follow the questionnaire). The ability to preload your new return from last years is a real time saver. The best feature for me was the ability to download my 1099B from Fidelity. It was 127 pages long. The software prepared every worksheet for every line item. I e-filed in March and had my refund approved within 4 days. Best of all is that this software is significantly discounted on Back Friday/Cyber Monday.
