Nothing is fun about doing a tax return. We normally use a CPA but decided to use H & R Block instead. It was easy to follow the instructions and had the federal and state returns done in one morning. I recommend it to anyone considering doing their own taxes.

I bought the H&R Block Deluxe in Nov 9, 2018, very early as I usually do. The program immediately captures from previous filings relevant general info, including banks and charity organisations for one to edit, remove or ad new ones. The program makes it easy for you to add deductions and check for you if it is better to use the standard deduction or the itemized deduction. You have the option to stick to the itemized deductions at this point to see if it will be advantageous to go this way taking into account your your state taxes. Some would probably appreciate some help in the program regarding that last issue.

I have been using H&R Block tax software to prepare and file tax returns for myself and for my adult children for many years. Recently I decided to take the IRS Volunteer tax preparer certification exam which mandated that I use Tax Slayer product. The difference between the two products was sufficient to cause me to withdrawal from the volunteer program entirely. H&R Block simplifies a very complex tax code so that most people can comply with ease.
