Software is very helpful in completing and submitting taxes. The cost of the software is starting to price themselves out of the market, have been shopping around for less expensive alternatives the last few years. If it weren't for specials or sales, I would use something else.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

I've been a used for nearly ten years. The software is a good value. For 2026, the only issue was for 1099-DIV, - INT and Schedule B purposes, there was no way to import to financial services such as from Merrill Lynch or Empower as there had been in the past, so that data had to be entered manually.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import documents

Not as easy or good as last few years

I’ve been using H & R Block tax software to do my personal taxes for over 18 years. It’s always been thorough and easy to use until this year. This year it was confusing and didn’t answer my questions well or at all. I’m not as confident in filing my return as I was every previous year… like hopefully it’s correct? Ugh. Seriously going to explore other options to do my taxes for the 2026 year. For the cost of this program I expected better.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall, the product was easy to understand and use. However, I found it confusing to add my husband as disabled, and I was unable to document his disability for our federal return

Should no longer offer the option of a check in the mail for a refund, as the federal government only uses direct deposit. Otherwise outstanding software.

Tried online filing with H&R, but came back to the stand alone version due to computer incompatibility, (Linux). Now using remote desktop to file. Wish it ran natively in Linux, hint, hint.
