I'm happy with the download and installation process. Also, the ability to bring data from the prior year. I have an issue with Loss Carry Forward processing as I keep getting an error message that leads me to believe it will eventually be fixed but nothing seems to be happening. And this process has worked quite well for the last 10 years. So let's get it fixed.

Severe bugs render the software worthless

Buggy software incorrectly generates 8949 forms from 1099-DA. The 1099-DA forms show up in the software correctly, but the 8949 generated from that is badly wrong - it repeats one page three times identically and then ignores the rest of the entries. As a result, the calculated capital gains are completely wrong. This is a major bug that renders the software completely useless. I'll have to copy everything over to TurboTax now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Could not download my 1099B

Merrill was not included in the list of financial institutions that could download my 1099B. I had to enter the data manually.

I will switch to other software next year

I will switch to other software next year. Here is why: (1) form 1116, calculation error, 0 x tax = 52!, (2) form 1116 schedule B not supported, (3) cannot e-file with form 1116, (4) form 8960 SALT allocation not updated after the SALT limit was raised, (5) education credit, taxable scholarship not brought into schedule 1, (6) page 2 of form 4562 NOT included in the printout for filing on paper, (7) HR Block support line was useless and undermined confidence in the software.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
