The program is pretty easy to use, and I have done so for several years now. I always like to run the program both for my wife and I to file jointly and for us to file separately. I have found that one or the other is markedly more beneficial for us; this year it was filing separately. It was a difficult task for me. It seems that it would be a pretty simple software task for the program to run it both ways and to tell me which way is most beneficial. As I write this, though, it dawns on me that it is important that the outcome of the state program be factored in, which may make it more complicated from a software perspective.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

Worked fine every year but this year. Was rejected by the IRS and then my bank account was hacked 2 hours later. SW introduced errors in the data that was entered (mixed DOBs with dependents), etc. Had to spend extra time reviewing forms it auto-populates.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
