This is the second year I've used this product and wish I had another option. I'm using it because my computer is too old to use a more intuitive product. While many of the features of all tax software are the same, this one simply feels disconnected and unhelpful when you run into bizarre problems. I'm just hoping I don't get dinged by the IRS.
I have now used this tax program for several years. I have always been very pleased with it, and I will surely use it in future years. I especially love the way it transfers data from you previous reture.
I bought this product a month ago, this a good product however with my tax situation this might have been to indebt for my needed tax preparation. I didn't see an option specific for my family so I chose the deluxe option. This being said, the deluxe option is a good option for people needing more itemizations. Thank you.
H&R Block is generally fine. However, I experienced some problems with an error in the Idaho State tax form 39R related to "tuition and fees", which took a total of about 6-8 hours of time to sort out. Eventually the error was acknowledged and fixed in the subsequent update. Also, the "Jump to Related" feature did not work on the majority of cells where I needed to figure out where an automatically entered value came from. Because I was able to diagnose an actual problem, and discover a number that the software entered in error that I would otherwise not have found, I was left with a feeling of uncertainty about how reliable the software is. I did purchase Turbo Tax and found a similar, but different issue with the Idaho tax form. Eventually got both programs to give me the same result, but it took a lot of time and luck.
I've been using H&R Block software for many years. It has always been very easy to use overall. The last few years I have had oil & gas royalties and found the program to be very confusing in that area. I've had to complete the return questionnaire several times in order to get the correct royalty information on the IRS forms.
