The software failed to install from my download. Fortunately, my son is a software engineer and went into the software to fix install file. Then, after the program would ask a question in the interview, I would make a note to get that info, but when I went back into the file and "go to" question, it could no longer be found! This happened twice! I still have no idea if that missing info piece would have made a difference in the outcome! Also, what happened to being able to import the info from Fidelity? This was always a time saver. In retrospect, I should give this 1 star!?
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
I have used Tax Cut for years and like the product. Carry forward of input from prior years and brokerage account downloads are great. I would like more assistance with minimum required distributions from IRAs. Also exceptions which require more data at the end of the process could be clearer.
Basically very good and I will continue to use, but has some very annoying and confusing places. Set someone down and tell them to enter information from two 1099-Misc's for gas well royalties and see how lost they get. A couple of years ago I wrote myself an instruction sheet for how to get through it, because the confusion happened to me every year. Fix it, please. Also in the review warnings (or whatever they call it) it insisted I enter some worksheet information. It had the information, and showed me what I needed to enter. Why didn't it just put the information in for me???
