The software is easy to download and easy to use. You can import some data from financial websites. The Help screens are useful. The built-in review process is helpful for finding issues and missing data. You can e-file and also print the return and save it as a PDF. You get a lot for your money, and their guarantee to stand by you is reassuring. Being able to do state taxes as well as federal is a great convenience. I've used their software for over 20 years and have recommended it to friends including an American who lives in Europe - he uses it now, too.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I have been using H & R Block software to do my taxes for years now. It is very easy, especially by being able to import information from the last years return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Have used this software and its predecessor every year since approximately 1992. Have always been VERY pleased up until this year. BIGGEST CONCERN: Previous versions have always listed EVERY stock or mutual fund sale with net loss/gain on schedule D or on its supporting form. This year's program listed only 3 items individually and then combined the remaining 10 or 15 in one lump sum with net short term loss/gain total. I am uncertain and very concerned whether this will fly with the IRS. Still will recommend and use this program next year unless I get called on this. SECONDARY ISSUE: Upon receiving confirmation that IRS accepted my e-file I was unable to print the confirmation with the submission ID number.
Excellent software. Easy to use. I would like to have bank account and driver's license info stored on the file that you save/backup so I don't have to reenter info every year
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I've used H&R Block software for years. I bought the software that includes both federal and state, only to find out that the state version doesn't include part-year residents. That means that, because I moved to another state, the state software was worthless. One would certainly think you would disclose something that relevant. Millions of people move every year...
