I have used this product for many years and this is the first time I had a negative review. It is very surprising to me that the product was released with the update functionality not working. And it still does not work. That should just simply work and you should not have to use a workaround. When doing my taxes I found some of the guidance lacked precise guidance and was unhelpful. I am not sure what changed at the company but the product did not meet the standard that had previously been set.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I ordered my HR Block Federal plus State Tax Return disk in January and proceeded to prepare my return. I completed both the Federal and State returns in early February, but was not able to file them because two alerts that needed checking and verification first. However, the updates were not released by the IRS until Feb. 27. I downloaded the update and proceeded to recalculate my return and found the alert had been corrected and I could proceed to finish and file my return.
Cons: Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’ve been using the H&R Block Deluxe software for several years. It’s simple, accurate and I believe I get the best return possible. I haven’t had to use it but there is always assistance available if necessary. You can’t beat it.

Why did H&R take away Merrill Lynch 1099 download?

H&R2025 took a huge step backwards in tax preparation by removing Merrill Lynch 1099 downloads. Manually inputting 1099s, especially lengthy 1099-B, is a total pain in the .... I would have not have used H&R again had I known this before purchasing it. I will switch to a different platform next year if they continue to not support it.

Too many errors that I had to manually correct. Failed to import from Merrill requiring 100s of manual entries. Stupid one by one review of every investment transaction. Horrible.
