We've used H&R Block for many years, and always been satisfied with the results. I particularly like some of the new features to allow you to upload tax forms via PDF, or even phone. We will continue to use for our own taxes and will recommend to others.

The straight forward instructions and linked sections (and previous year) made it easy enough for a non-technical person to complete. Then the audit function helps check each element. If you have your information gathered and in order the same as you would need to give to someone else to do your taxes it becomes very straight forward.

Program works fine but is a bit cumbersome to use the forms directly and won't allow changes there. The state program I bought wouldn't work correctly....Arkansas. Since military retirement pay is exempt it should have removed it from the agi...it did not. I had to do taxes manually.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

It is a very good product for DIY taxes. My situation is not complex so this is perfect for me. If itemization was consistently helpful, I had many investments and/or a business, I would have a professional prepare my taxes. The interview and education resources are excellent. I've relied on this program for years. I just wish e-filing for my state was not as expensive.

My program either had glitches that prevented me from making changes to the errors and Data or it failed to give adequate instructions on how to make the corrections. It also failed to give an explanation as to why the input was potentially wrong or harmful.
