I have no issues using the software generally speaking and is fairly easy to follow through. BUT every year I have had issues with upgrading the software per the target dates it tells me after the first initial update in early Jan. Then up through about the 2nd update in February I have to uninstall and reinstall the using the original downloaded desktop software. But about the 2nd or 3rd update in February it correctly updates and starts the app. Those periods of no updates is either the date still showing as if it did not update OR the program cant be started because of some configuration issue it caused. During these failed updates I simply uninstall and reinstall and that failed update occurs ok. I have asked HRB to fix these problems every year now for the last 5 and nothing. And for this issue you lose 1 star.

Very disappointed this year. I have used the software for maybe 20 years. This year I have a non spouse inherited IRA. The software is adding av10% penalty for early withdrawal. But the AI help states that there isn’t a penalty for this. I have been working with support for weeks and I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

My issue began when I inadvertently downloaded the Free program instead of the Fed+State. Trying to upgrade to my correct program became a nightmare. Menus were not clearly marked, the Free Program file took about an hour to locate. Once locatedI downloaded my correct file but it wouldn't capture the info I had already inputed. So, had to input everything from scratch. Once I began working in the Fed+State program things went fairly smooth from there on. The home page needs to be more clearly marked for those who have an activation code from prior sign up.
Cons: Hard to import documents

I have been using H&R Block software for more years than I can remember. It is easy and saves so much time. My only suggestion is that you modify it so I can print some of the s teens as I go. I have been taking photographs of various screens but it would be handy to be able to print screens on my desktop.

Confusing directions especially for the state. Hard to know what to do according to the information given. I have done my income tax for over 40 years. This was the worst year yet.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
