All except a few areas were unclear what was done under the covers to arrive at the values it came up with.

Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

The program works pretty well. The only issue I have is that for this year and last years return, I had to change The amount of one of the entries on my Federal return by one dollar because it was the same amount on two lines for my 1099 entries. Of course now I can't remember what the line numbers are... I entered the amounts from my 1099 in the required spaces and during the self check that error popped up. The only way to get it to clear was to change the amount of the second entry by a dollar.

Cons: Time consuming

It's my third tax year using the H&R Software for Windows. It's very easy to use and a good value. I used to work at a CPA firm and prepared many tax returns on a much more sophisticated platform but this one works fine for my personal needs.

I bought this software because it was cheaper than TurboTax. Big mistake. Confusing, wordy, unhelpful.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare
