The one issue I had was that I changed the default location of my previous years tax return and when I went to that location to load it, it wouldn't allow me to change the view in the File Explorer to locate the .T18 filetype (it defaulted to .T19).
It is difficult to enter trades into the forms when the numbers are in the millions. It takes forever if you just can't download the trades from your platform.
I started my taxes the first week of April. Thankfully because of covid 19 taxes were not due until June. Some parts of it are confusing and took time to straiten out what was needed. Glad they are done.
Won't link with past year's returns from the online version. Will not flag simple errors at federal level but will at State. Navigation is terrible, one edit causes you to click back through the entire process because it doesn't remember where you were. Has not improved in the 5+ years since I first used it.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
I've used HRB to do federal and US taxes. I did have an issue on my state return this year. I had received 1099-R's because of an inheritance, entered all my data on the Fed return. When i started the state return it did not transfer the cost of the annuity accounts, and had me owing thousands to the state. Fortunately it was easy enough to fix, and I knew it was wrong right away, but I have to think that most people wouldn't notice this. Nor did the HRB software warn or prompt that this needed to be done.
And for me, this is such a one-off situation, so i don't know if this is a long-standing bug or issue, or by design somehow. But at least let the user know to pay attention to this.
