The program works pretty well, but it does not give the right instructions for mailing an extension to the IRS. It just gives the instructions for mailing a tax return to the IRS. There is a different zip code for filing extensions. Couldn't find a way to print a single page of the return without printing the whole 1040. It would be great to have a feature to make it easier for blind people to sign their returns by way of a signature anywhere on the screen. It is hard for them to line-up a signature on the form. Other features for the blind would be good to have -- like complete audio interaction instead of screen, mouse, and keyboard. Mom used to prepare taxes as a tax consultant for decades but is now going blind.
Software is okay but I still ended up having file a hard copy of my taxes. Even when I refiled after getting my 2018 AGI from this IRS. I understand why was rejected the 1st time but not after I made the correction as I was instructed to do. I hope that next year this does not happen again.
It isn’t worth the trouble if you live/work in different states!
It doubles income from your W2 if taxes have been withheld from two states, very strange. There is a question asking if this has happened that allows you to fix the error the software made but when you do that it is considered some sort of problem that prevents you from filing your returns electronically. I’ve used this software (and it’s predecessor) for more than ten years but I’ll be getting a different one next year.
The underpayment calculation form was quite difficult to follow and it did not follow the software ease and layout used throughout; it seems that this portion was thrown in last minute into the software. I even clicked 'have IRS calculate for me and bill me' to avoid this part and the software kept taking me back to complete form.
