Overall the software is pretty user friendly. There was some difficulty in going to different parts of the program because the instructions were not clear as how to proceed to finish, e file, and check the acceptance of the returns. Also if one return is rejected it was not easy to correct the rejection. In my particular case it showed two reasons for rejection however correcting one of the two solved the problem.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Moving to TurboTax

I have been using TaxCut/HRBlock every year for over 20 years, but this year it failed me! I couldn't add a pdf attachment to my efile. It's time to switch to TuboTax from next year.

It kept asking to rerecord
Wages so I wound up with an incorrect gross wage amount . I found Turbotax a far easier product to use in the past .I think I will use their services in the future.

H&R Block Homeowners/Investors deluxe tax software

Verified Purchase:Yes
Overall a good product. It's useful to have the facility to import forms from financial institutions. One con is that it costs a substantial amount of money to ask a tax advisor even one question. Another con is that no worksheet appeared to show how the taxes were calculated when qualified dividends and long term dividends are taken into account.

Easy to understand instructions

I've been using HR block for a while it explains what is deductible and not deductible as well as exceptions.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not Happy with certain aspects of program.

The program seems to be extremely comprehensive in its tax law knowledge and keeps the user on the straight and narrow.
It took a while to realize that I had to seek out an email after the digital purchase to access a special code in that email in order to use the program or finally to e-file the return.
The biggest drawback is that quite often the program mentions important information that the user must know 6-12 months from now but the program does not allow the user to make a legible digital copy (i.e.: not an illegible screen picture) of that information and thus the user is forced to copy the information by hand. The chance of losing handwritten notes is high.
The program also provides no breakdown of how it arrives at the final reported number in investment gains and losses. It also mentions that wash sale losses can be used in the future but does not mention how I can do that or if I will need to do it on my own or what.

I have used H&R tax software for years, so have my daughter and son. I find it clear and very easy to use. It is complete enough to address every tax situation and question that I have come across. I would recommend it to anyone.
