I've used the H&R Block (Tax cut) for almost 20 years. It is simple and straight forward to use. The second year is easier than the first as it save all you data, so you don't have to re-enter data such as you address, employers, banks, etc. Also serves as a reminded. I have a vacation house that I rent and it takes care of that and remembers what I put in last year. If it didn't work, I would no continue to use it.
Loading the software from your mailed disk, the program froze. And, when I tried to clear it it disappeared. I was left with no software to work with. Later I found your email to me with a reload code that finally saved the day. Also, when your error check was so confusing (it always has been) I accidentally deleted a key page that cut my refund in half. I had to go all the way back through the return and reaccomplish my main 1099-R page to get the refund back to the maximum. One problem is that the 1099-R lists a number 7 distribution code in block 7. This code means something about an IRA to you, but it has always meant just an ordinary normal to me and the military (I had to force it to take "none" to make the software work).
I spent over 4 hours on the phone today trying to get some information about the software that I purchased. While I was waiting I worked on their website. I could not get the help I needed. I also had a problem at the end of the filing process that I could not help either. I have used the H&R software for 6 years and never had any trouble. This year it was very disappointing.
