Have been using H&R Block for several years with good experience. However this year 2019 version missed the automatically software updating. Hope it will be restored back to previous years auto software updating.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

Mediocre UI for federal return. H&R product did not support DE non-resident filing but did not provide this info until after I purchased the state return. Will be disputing this charge with my credit card company.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I never realized it before, but I cannot find anywhere how my taxes were calculated. I check myself for errors regularly, but if I don't know how the package calculated my taxes, how can I double check that calculation?
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

Takes ages to get through the interview. Filling out a 1040 manually is actually much faster. The only reason I use this software at all is that I sometimes have complicated circumstances like self employment. The interview could be much more streamlined. Don't ask me about my property taxes 2 or more times, for instance. There's a lot of duplication in the interview.

You can actually do your taxes on your own without having a tax degree , it’s not overwhelming, the rules and laws are built in.
