Interview process was not good, and horrible with the state program. Then had to pay extra to efile the state. Have used H&R federal for several years, and this was the first year I used the state as well. Program would not let me enter my account no for a refund from state, only the routing number, so could not get my refund, if I wanted to efile.
Searching for Form Help is Lacking; Good otherwise

I got a form 5498 for a SIMPLE IRA contribution from my employer. Searching for 5498 should have led me to a discussion on the form and where to enter the data. Search results were in left field. Debated whether to declare daughter as a dependent, or let her claim tuition as I made too much to claim. That should just be an automatic check rather than me doing taxes twice to see.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
2019 tax year Deluxe version has become horrid with very little or totally non existing help from the software. For any search either nothing is found or something useless shown. The search button takes to some internal help site of HRBlock that yields useless links. I think prior year was better than this. Prior to efiling it brings up non existing errors like missing spouse SSN though it printed when I tried paper print. Also wanted to fill in state for a W2 that was already seen in W2. The accuracy and error checking has worsened. I felt I threw my money away and would look for better software next time. Also many interview questions are so confusing that one does not know the outcome of what one answers, mainly due to the language used and the way questions are phrased that makes it very ambiguous and unsure which way I am answering. Bad experience overall. Can I please get a full refund plus extra $500 for a waste of my time due to these?
Very easy to use, takes you through all of the steps of doing your taxes with easy to understand questions. Great value for the price. I've used this product for years.
