Don't efile. Use paper!

I don't trust the efile. I thought I completed my federal tax before the July deadline. Went to IRS to check status. No record. Tried to contact support. 45 minute wait. My phone and internet connection won't last that long. The tax software suggested an efile. Apparently that didn't work. No problem for years when I filed paper. Don't trust the netherworld of the internet.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Great value! Would like an easy way to take the standard discount though. But I probably missed something. A few areas I was uncertain about still. But you have some free support to take advantage of which I didn’t use. Recommended.

For most taxpayers, it's pretty easy. however, it offers poor support for railroad retirees. The forms and info are in there, but you have to search for it.

Doent run on Win7

Continually wanted to print return in pdf, but could never find how to do it without going to the final step of filing. I wanted a paper copy so I could check it as I progressed. Continue to be upset that it hasn't run on Win7 for the last 4 years or so.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

Anyone can use this software with ease. I've been using it for years now. Could be a little better in the help area rather than referring to the IRS page since it updates every time it opens anyway.

Very easy to install and use. Helps save time by carrying over prior year info if purchased the prior tax season. Just make sure you write down your AGI value in your records, or you won't be able to file.

Reasonably priced software with easy-to-follow directions. Our tax situation is fairly straightforward so I can't assess how it would handle a complex tax return, but I believe that it can handle the tax situations for the vast majority of filers.
