Have been using H&R Block for the past dozen or more years. Reliable application; however not without faults. The It's Deductible program for valuing donations seemingly has not been modified in years. The list of items that the program provides values for has not changed in a long time. For the third consecutive year, they have not uploaded an AZ state tax form (352) required for certain donation types, which means that the entire state tax package must be printed and Form 352 manually added to the packet. Given that, it must be mailed in and can't be e-filed.
I have used H&R tax software for years. It has been easy to use with excellent help screens when I have questions. My IRS returns have always been accurate and accepted by accepted on the first submission.

There was several issues I encountered while using this software to prepare my tax returns. The first was the input screen for entering the information from my employer's 1099-R form. The box numbers on the input screen did not match the box numbers on the 1099. e.g., Box 1 gross distribution, Box 2 employee contribution, etc. The second issue I had was entering amounts from form 1099-B from my brokerage account. The software did not offer a method of entry for 1099-Bs that only report aggregated amounts (Box 9 and 11) on the form. I had to dig into the software end enter the data directly on IRS form 6781. The software also did not seem to take into account when importing 1099 forms directly from my brokerage that a Consolidated 1099 would be imported and totally ignored the information required to report 1256 option transactions. The software is ok for simple returns, I wouldn't recommend it for active stock traders.
