Have used the H&R Block tax program for years. Good, straightforward tax program. However, it does not offer free e-filing of my state taxes. I just discovered that some other popular programs let me e-file for free, while the H&R Block program does not. Also, the instructions at the final step for sending the printed state tax forms did not include a list of everything that was needed to be attached; the wording was ambiguous. I had to go onto my state's tax website to find the actual information.
Pros: Maximizes refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Difficult to use, can not use forms only, turbo tax is easier, did not work on my Apple Mac, several screens were unusable.some fonts are not readable,

Does the job, but is lengthy to complete interview process, as Federal tax filing is complex due to such a multitude of exceptions, taxes for items, no taxes on others. Somewhat difficult to navigate and to eFile federal but mail or free eFile state return. Cost to buy state software through the federal app costs more than buying federal and state combined
