Software touts itself as EFILE software but it IS NOT. I bought it to efile last years taxes which is what it specifically says its for (otherwise you'd just print them and send in snail mail) but IT DOES NOT EFILE LAST YEARS TAXES. When you get ALLLLL done and hit "SEND" it acts like it's sending and then says "THE DEALINE FOR E-FILING TAXES HAS PASSED". Why sell software specifically for that then???!!!!!!! So frustrating.
According to the IRS, when we made our payment through H&R Block software, the software applied the payment to my spouse, individually, and not to me as the primary on our joint return. Therefore, the IRS believed that we did not pay and still owed taxes, resulting in hours on the phone and a giant headache to get it straightened out. We won't be using this software again.
We use both an Iowa and Wisconsin state tax software each year due to income earned in each state. Iowa's software won't calculate some figures for out of state residents used on the IA126 form, even though the software has the amounts needed to do the calculations. Iowa allows for medical deductions as a percentage of Iowa income versus total income. If a person has $5,000 in deductible medical expenses and $20,000 of Iowa income versus $80,000 of total income, then the Iowa deductions would be .25% of that $5,000 to be subtracted from the Iowa income. But the H&R Block software won't calculate that amount for you and enter it on the form. Infact, the software doesn't provide any instructions on how to calculate the amount.
The federal and Wisconsin state software is better. Except at times you must pull up the form to enter amounts directly, instead of a box to enter it and the software putting that amount into the form for you.
The review only allows a Yes or No recommending this software to others. I would have to say no.
