Expected More from a Well-Known Organization

I expected more from one of the most well known preparers. The prompts are fairly easy to follow. It would be nice to have a simplified reference to what forms are being impacted when filling out a given prompt. It's nice that thorough descriptions are left for each selection. However, when I got to the filing status calculator, I noticed the "regular tax" line would decrease substantially when selecting "check if EITHER taxpayer or spouse will itemize". I spent hours looking through this form and doing manual calculations only to realize the "regular tax" row is not calculating correctly for the filing separately selection. I nearly under reported my tax liability by over $1.5K. Furthermore, when I went to e-file, after hitting "send", my card was charged and was immediately prompted to update the software. After updating, the software said I had not yet e-filed. I went through the prompts again to resubmit. The only way was to re-enter my card information and I was charged a second time - the software now showing that my e-filing was accepted. I currently have two charges on my account. Hopefully one of them will be cancelled automatically.
As always solid, easy to use and some helpful hints. Installs well, updates well, no hassles. Not expensive if you buy it a bit early, worth it. They have further improved the document import, so I had even less to type this year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I began using HR Block tax preparation programs when it was still called tax Cut. The only drawback is that the joint versus separate preparation comparison does not auto fill the individual data as provided when I fill in joint information. Also, it is not possible to autofill separate returns from data provided in completed joint return. I understand this would be a costly major upgrade.
I'm a longtime user of the H&R Block tax program, and it's the best. Just the right amount of instructions supplied to enable a taxpayer to complete their filing and not a lot of extra useless information.
This was a total DISASTER!!! I read IRS instructions and prepared a paper copy in about 1 1/2 before starting your Software just to have a base. It took at least 6 hours and 11 attempts to get help from your company. I was transferred from the initial person quickly after briefly explaining my need to separate income information between my IRA distribution and pension. I spent most of the time on HOLD with Horrible Repetitive Music. I was cut off before getting any useful information until my last contact. I was even cut off from him after he gave me a couple suggestions on finding necessary instructions so lines 4 and 5 of my 1040 could be completed as required by the IRS instructions. A simple instruction by HRB addressing how to separate IRA and pension information on the form WOULD HAVE SAVED LOT OF FRUSTRATION. I was even instructed to use 1040SR which would normally have IRA information required.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
For all the prior years of using H&R tax software, 2021 failed me. There was no form 1040N-V to go with paying my state taxes. Plus, the checklist told me to include pages 1-2 of my Federal. Following the provided print instructions, instead of just pages 1-2, I wasted ink and paper on more forms printed.
