I'm filing for the state of Maine. I wasn't able to electronically file my State taxes because of a validation error. The error mentioned a Federal 1099 entry that cannot be negative (I lost money in a stock sale) for Alabama! Issue 1: There was nothing about Alabama in my filings. Issue 2: Why is the State filing caring about the Federal data when it did not come up at all in the entry forms for the State tax data? Issue 3: Why can't we report a negative transaction for Stock? Seems ridiculous!
Best thing I ever did was to start using this software! It keeps track year to year so you don't have to go digging for info from previous year's returns!! It also pre-loads the forms you will need (1099s, etc.) so you don't miss anything.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
IRS has challenged 2019 Tax return regarding Gross IRA and net IRA after QCD. Apparently Your submission did not provide QCD amount which I provided to you to IRS and did not mark QCD next to Line 4b as required by irs on Fed 1040. I have submitted reply to IRS on Dec 7, 20 with documentation negating their claim. It will take 3 to 6 months for them to finally accept. my information. As a result I have to file all returns manually since you have not made any change to your procedure. A lot of additional time & postage. Cannot file State Electronically since I have to file federal manually. I reported the 2019 tax claim To H&R Block in Dec 2020.
