I've used H&R Block tax software for several years after the competition jumped the price for a similar product and found it to be simpler to use and comprehensive for my income and investment situation. I'd like to see a bit more guidance on how to find worksheets, etc. but now that I've worked it out, I'm having no problem.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I have used H & R Block tax software for most of this century. It has always made me feel confident that the numerous tax returns I file are being prepared correctly and in good order
I've been using H&R Block tax software for many years. I think the interview entry process is easier to understand and more complete than TurboTax but there are a few things which need improvement. 1. The software coding should be updated to allow saving forms in PDF format. It currently requires the download and installation of third party software, PDF995, which doesn't work well anyway. TurboTax has PDF capability built into the program. 2. If you need to change an earlier entry, you can't save the change and return to the same spot in the interview process. You must advance through every screen, pressing 'save' or 'finish' to get back to the place you were before. This is very tedious. Other than these issues, I like the software.
There's no place to claim exemptions on the Alabama State Return for anything other than my military retirement and social security. I also draw a small state stipend retirement that is exempt from state taxes. The only way I could exempt it was to add it to the military retirement total.
I have used H&R Block several years and have been very satisfied. Easy to use and process. Asks needed questions and explains how to proceed and data to enter. Easy to “go to” specific forms or topics.
I didn’t have any unusual form, retired with. Social security. Standard form like a W-2. What was the problem that this standard form needed an update that delayed my filing. I found many were asking this same question
