Interview Makes Assumptions on 8889 Form

I normally love this software. This year we started an HSA. The interview assumes that if one spouse (married filing jointly) has "family" insurance, that both do. In our case my husband's insurance covers our son and him. It would cost more to cover me. It is cheaper for me to pay a single insurance. I had to manually make changes. Also - I went with desktop install. The online version had me pick married, then assumed we were married that year. Maybe I missed something. But I couldn't find a way to change that, or delete the return and start another. If using I recommend a desktop install.

This software is sure less expensive than a tax service. As long as you can read and understand, you can get through this process easy.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Used Turbo tax for years until they raised their price. Thought I'd try H & R and am happy I did. Have a farm, and a small business, and investments. H & R handled it great. Very Happy.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

The most frustrating tax filing with this software

I buy this every year and breeze through the return. This year it was awful. The software kept freezing up and quitting. This seemed to start after the February update. I called and talked to a software rep and they said the problems have been awful. Very buggy software this year. Please repair before next year!!!!
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Software

I used this software last year to do my taxes. Saved myself a high fee if done by local tax center. Really easy to follow screens. I didn't do something right first time because return was extremely high. Went through again and double checked my numbers and found mistake. Don't forget to print AGI page once IRS accepts your e-file. You will need that number for next year. Also, don't forget to manually enter any 1099's if not imported from previous year. Check all numbers three or more times for errors.

I have used this software for many years. Easy to get, easy to use and has many built in features that make it easy to finish. I have found their customer support to be excellent.

hard to find where to enter PIN

Overall, the software works well. My only gripe is that the place to enter identity protection PIN is buried under the misc tab. I suggest having an additional reminder and opportunity to enter in the file section.
