Tax Year 2020 1040-X Amendment Experience

Poor review of amendment process (generally happy with the original filing): I'm sorry to say I thought this process was very convoluted and hard to follow to amend my tax return. I felt like I had to reverse engineer the entries to make everything come out since it was hard to distinguish what was meant by original info versus updated info in the columns. The accuracy check seemed to come up too soon - the program hadn't even asked for data that showed up missing. Also, unhelpful to let me go all the way down the e-file path only then to be told the e-filing date had expired.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Watch when you efile

Be very careful to select the free efile box when you file. I check the credit card box because I needed to pay for the state return, but then I was still charged for the federal efile.

Contacted help and was put into non ending loop with no resolution. No one could assist with e send error problem
Cons: Time consuming

Did not calculate state tax correctly. Ignored input of quarterly payments.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Makes doing U.S. Taxes easier

I have used H&R Block Deluxe for many years now. Our taxes have gotten so complicated, your program makes it so much easier to complete each year. I am able to complete them in (2) afternoons once I have gathered all my bank & investment statements & the other documentation required & sorted them, so they follow your step by step, program questions.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I continue to use H&R software for my tax return preparation and filing because I have not encountered any problems during the several years since I switched from a different software supplier. Buy the product that suits your situation and as you complete your return you will see how smooth your journey becomes. No wicked witch of the WEST here!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

H&R Block Deluxe 2021 Software

Does not fully support Master Limited Partnership - Publicly Traded Partnerships (MLP - PTPs). It also will not electronically file a PA State return containing MLP - PTPs. It was difficult to figure out how to enter foreign tax for PTP Partnership distributions that are not documented on1099-DIV or K1 forms. Otherwise, it would have received 5 Stars.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Used this software for many years without any real problems. However should be easier to efile with complete K-1 information.
