the program works without fail the only thing is you bite folks hard for working in more than one state you should give a brake to those taxpayers or have a version with up to 5 state downloads included in the original price
I've been using this for years with no problems. It does my stock and mutual fund investments, rental property, small business, and installment sale property.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I did 2 returns and nice being able to send everything electronically. Wish the State was not charged extra for sending electronically but I was able to print and mail to State.
I have been using H & R Block for a number of years but this year I received a big discount to try Turbo Tax. The advertising for the product explained how easy it was to retrieve and import previous information from other software products. I thought I would give it a try. Despite numerous attempts to import my H & R Block info I was unable to do so as it was in a 'different' format. I had to re-enter all information. The program itself was acceptable and walked you through the entries. However, when I tried to file, my return was repeatedly 'rejected' (AGI did not match although I took the info directly from my 2020 return) After searching Turbo Tax for 'live' help I finally got a representative who told me to mail it in. The problem, I explained was that NYS REQUIRES e-file and will not accept a return without Federal accepted. The representative was no help. I decided to purchase H & R Block. My first e-file was rejected but it was explained clearly on the website how to address the problem. Both returns were immediately accepted. Unfortunately, I had to paid for Turbo Tax software even though I was unable to file.
I just ran the HR Block software and filed my federal and state returns. I was very impressed. It took about an hour, captured my data from Charles Schwab over the Internet and allowed me to upload a PDF of my W2 that it read automatically and entered. No need to fill in replicas of forms. And it came up with more deduction options to save money than I got with TurboTax including thE obscure "Savers Credit" one that I read about on Google. Very pleased with the refunds, which turned out to be significantly larger than what I got when I visited "Estimate Your Tax & Refund" pages last year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
