Sooo Easy!

We’ve used H&R Block’s tax software since 2017 and find it so easy to complete. We have investments and interest and such, but the software explains what to put where.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lacking forms necessary to file electronically

I have used H&R Block for years but no longer. Switching to Turbo Tax. You don't have the latest forms to file i.e. Form 8911. Had to Google how to claim the deduction and found an unhappy forum about this subject (Level 2 charger installation credit). Learned how to file with this form but could not file electronically as I had to use form 3800.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I had read that there was a form missing for "electric cars" (which I did not have so I was not concerned). However, I had a W2 from Virginia Retirement Systems - They did not take out Federal or State taxes, so the spaces were "blank". So, I left them "blank" when I filled out my taxes. H&R Block Deluxe+State flagged it as an error. So, I filled in the yellow highlighted boxes with "0", but it still wouldn't take it. After trying many times and being very frustrated, I deleted my W-2 altogether and started over. Then, despite having our social security numbers in so many places, it was NOT putting it in for one of the W-2's - which, at first said was my husband's, but it was associated to MY W-2. I am not sure why it was so messed up, but if it happens again next year, I will change to a different company. I have NEVER had so much trouble using your program before!

I called to have a simple question answered I was placed on hold until I got tired of waiting if you cant answer the simple questions how can I rely on you for serious problems

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Submitted my taxes, came back to check my return status and it said they were not submitted. However I received an email for both State and Federal acceptance of the tax file. Should have used TurboTax!
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

I can't wait to buy it every Fall. Its price beats its competitors, hands down. I love the way it guides me through each and every item. It gives me guidance I can understand, which means a lot. "Confident" does not come close to explaining how I feel about this tax preparation program.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

For 2 years I have been asking you to work with Zen Ledger to develop a direct Crypo coin tax input like Turbo Tax has had for several years to relieve the cumbersome input process a bit.Would not recommend you until you do and likely will cease using you soon if you don't.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Returns Rejected

I had a frustrating time with the software this year. I created an IP PIN with the IRS months back which I had forgotten about. I submitted my completed federal and California returns, but the federal was rejected. The rejection report indicated that my IP PIN didn't match. H&R Block has a screen that includes a PIN (5-digit, can be anything) during the eFile process. I thought this was the field for the IRS IP PIN. I changed the PIN and re-submitted. This submission was also rejected. Since I copied and pasted the PIN, I didn't notice at the time that the IRS PIN is 6-digits and the H&R Block PIN is 5-digits. I then searched the help options in the software for IP PIN. There are four entries, none of which tell you where to input the IRS IP PIN. I called H&R Block and while on hold, I searched the internet for the answer. I found the answer online and then updated my federal return.
What I find frustrating is that if H&R block knows that there are multiple PINs, then there should be a big warning before submitting to ensure the user has entered the correct PIN in the correct place.
After getting my federal return accepted, the state return came back rejected. The accuracy report has not issues. The rejection form says to go and manually look at all of the tax forms. I checked through a few forms which was time consuming. Plus, I buy the software so I don't have to try and understand every question.
I ended up printing my California tax return and mailing it. What a pain in the butt.
