features are good

every year after one use if you go back into the software it checks for any federal or state updates. When it does it ALWAYS fail with the message 'taxdatastorehandler' not found. when calling support all they can tell me is to try a different download
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great program, would like to see them add the abity to copy deductions to split them up in the future.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Has bugs/issues

Has bugs/issues: (1) My W2 Box 12 had 5 codes (C, D, W, AA, and DD), but software picked up only 4; entering the 5th manually did not help. (2) No clue if W2.12.DD was used in Federal return (3) W2.12.DD was not present in W2 created by system for California return (4) Basis for Roth Conversion was not explained correctly (5) 2020 return was done with HR Block, but while doing 2021 return, software asked for information about itemized deductions in 2020, even though itemization was not done in 2020. (6) Software insists that I provide my phone number even though I do not want to do so. (7) Amounts paid with California 540ES were not taken into account for estimating penalties/fees for insufficient withholding -- software said I owed fees to California even though I had a refund of overpaid taxes.
Cons: Hard to import documents

When trying to file my Ohio return, the program kept asking for information from a 1099R box16 that had nothing in it. It would not accept that answer or allow the Ohio form to be efiled. Today I learned I could file for free on-line directly with Ohio. Their site did not ask for that box 16 information!
Cons: Time consuming

I’ve used H&R Block tax software for about 10 years now. I used to use Turbo Tax and it wasn’t near as good. Only suggestion would be a better explanation of what a part time resident means.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy program but not accurate

I have bought this software for the last 5 years and the last 3 years they have never come up with the right amount for me or my kids which also use it. When you try to contact someone for help there is no help. I won't be using this software next year or sure!
