I always did my own taxes, never found them to be difficult but I will admit I also made a few mistakes. The year I move to Arizona and had to file two state returns I turned to H&R Block’s software. The Arizona state instructions we confusing on paper but all I had to do was plug in my information and the program did the rest. Eight years later I can’t imagine doing my taxes any other way or with any other program!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

Gotten better each year but still difficult to navigate when going back into specific sections. The filing of State returns should not incur a separate charge.

The software is decent and easy to use -- at least for someone with experience preparing taxes. Customer support is not very good. I've had to file paper returns for IRS rejections that could probably have been re-submitted electronically.
