I used the CD for HR Block's software for years and never had an issue. Forced to use a download edition this year (2021Tax Yr) and had nothing but headaches .... everytime an update was issued, I ended up having to uninstall my downloaded edition and then reinstall to get an updated version that worked! Plus updates were so spread out, I had to wait to fie my return for fear an update would make an impact on my results. Hopefully next yr's Software edition will be better.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Incomplete and incorrect tax information for 2021 software. I just followed your steps and answered your questions. I input all of the information I had and your review said it was complete and correct. As it turns out, my actual refund was approximately $4,000.00 less than your software told me.
I believe I'm entitled to at least a refund of my purchase price and filing fees due to your errors.

I've been using this software since it was "Kiplinger's Tax Cut" in 1995 and have relied on it year after year. My only misgiving about recent years is that the software is ill-equipped to handle variation in filing status from year to year. Last year, my wife and I filed separately but this year it was more advantageous to file jointly. The e-filing did not have a means to look up both prior year AGI's and the only remedy offered was to file on paper. As a result, we're still waiting for our refund.

Okay if you only have one source of income and never filed taxes. If there’s anything different about your income though this software barely helps at all with understanding or explaining taxes. It basically assumed you already know what to do and doesn’t provide any extra information if you need it.
