Straight forward and easy to understand. If you follow their steps it is hard to go wrong. Being able to automatically download data from financial institutions is a real time saver. A huge factor for me is the state reporting. Finally the final review is a real help and confidence builder. On the downside is the occasional glitch (usually my fault) that isn’t clearly explained. I want to emphasize “occasional”

Better than the rating that I would give any other tax package. H&R Block has saved me money almost every year. The thing that could be improved the most is more complete tracking back to see where some amounts come from.

Software seems to work well and is usable on older versions of Windows. Does direct import of data from the Financial Institution that other software I have used does not handle at all. Navigation within the software is somewhat difficult and confusing to me as there are times I need to jump back and forth to places I have been and return to where I left off. Rounding does not seem to match IRS rounding exactly, but seems to be within $1. Finally, as a 75 year old retiree who invested in their retirement H&R Block Deluxe DOES include coverage for 1099B which most other software packages only bundle with business packages for things like rental property etc. This is the main reason I changed to H&R block.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
