I have used H & R for over 10 years and have had, basically, no problems. Its program has all the latest tax code and I've never had the IRS question my return. The only time I have heard from the IRS was a mail request for proof of charitable deductions. Remarkably, H & R has a warning feature that tells you when your deductions are high relative to your income. I sent copies of my receipts and all is well. I will be with H & R for life.

Only reason I have not tried other software was this was what I used in the past. All was well until several years ago I could not electronically file the state return due to some PDF requirements. I have Adobe, but it would still not let me file electronically.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
