I have an HRBlock user for many years after TurboTax did something I found not very "business professional" with its users. This year I moved from a Windows machine to a Mac and thought that my experience with HRBlock would be seamless as in past years. Nothing further from the truth. I was completely unable to use the software on an M1 MAx machine. The updates failed consistently and I had to install the software in a borrowed Windows machine to do my taxes. Not sure which software I will use next year, but I will think very hard before jumping into either one again.
My family, and I have been using this software to do our taxes for at least twenty years. During that time there have been no issues preparing our taxes. The software is simple to use, and understand.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
They've got it wrong the last two years--I got back much less than what they said I would. I had to wait 10 days for a download before I could file. Next year, back to TurboTax.
I have used H&R Block Software for several years after switching from TurboTax after they increased the cost of their products. The switch was easy and this single version allows me to do stock transactions, royalties, and itemized deductions without being hounded to pay for an upgrade. The software does not have the 'interview' like TT but I have found that I actually prefer being able to choose those items that affect me rather than having to check through a bunch of items that don't apply to my taxes. H&R Block Deluxe accuracy is backed by H&R Block. For the price, it just can't be beat.
I have been using HRBlock for nearly 10 years or more. It served me well, although it is possibly no the most smart software. It's help and navigation are not as easy as one would expect. However, the most important part is, it does provide good Tax filing result.
Better option than exposing data to a others in order to prepare. I don't like hosting my data on-line with a server to do taxes. I am not a fan of using someone who then has access to all my info after I have filed. The home based H&R Block keeps data on my hard drive except for the eFile part. I used to get a DVD in the mail that I activated. That part appears gone and the back-up DVD is challenging to get. If they offered the back up DVD more reliably I'd give them 5 stars.
