After using the software for years w/ no problem, the 2021 software would not properly print out my return; it would only print out the upper left (approximately) 1/4 of each page of the return. Hardware used was a 2019 iMac (w/ latest OS version) and Brother laser printer. Program (including e-filing) otherwise worked fine.

Have used for more than a decade with generally good results. This past year that all ended. The software would not download stock transactions. Customer service said they were working on it but didn't have resolution. Suggested I enter manually, which is what I had to do. The main reason I buy it is to streamline this exact sort of thing. So, guess I'll be trying a different brand next year.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Generally good software for taxes but has a bug

Generally good software for taxes but it has a problem with PA trust income, which it transfers as interest income. When you go to fill out the trust information, it ADDS the entered trust income AGAIN to your return, doubling your tax liability for that income. I have reported this bug for several years but no one at Block seems to care.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

The H&R Block Deluxe Software has been my personal choice for completing federal and state tax returns for over 10 years. The flow is logical. The software is easy to navigate from within. A person can stop and stop at any time, and go back to where they left off. H&R Block Deluxe Software is awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone!

I love that it takes last years data as a starting point which makes it easier to enter this years data. I love the deluxe edition that includes the state form and uses your federal data to apply to the state form. It's great.

Good software, I have been using H&RBlock since 2005. I get all my supporting info together before starting the program, then I am able to finish my taxes (federal and state) in a day! Federal e-file (included with software) goes smoothly. Then comes my major annoyance with the software ---> State e-file costs 20 bucks! H&RBlock Deluxe includes one state program, why not include one state e-file also?? Hence the 3-star rating this year. I typically rate the software 4 or 5 stars, but I think H&RBlock could differentiate themselves by including one state e-file and be the leader in this overcrowded tax software field.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
