I received a letter from the IRS saying that the child tax reimbursement or something like that was wrong. In addition I thought I sent my taxes in on time. However, somehow it wasn't sent.My state was filed correctly.but not my Federal. I sent them taxes and penalty of nearly $1000. It may be time to look at someone else's software. Ironically, after I payed them, the IRS sent me a flyer on how I may be able to save money on the very problem they flagged me on.
Easy to use, extremely helpful figuring out your deductions and exemptions. It was my first time ever filing my own taxes and it went smoothly and I was extremely happy with my returns.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Even though I was submitting within the extension deadline (Oct. 17) for my returns, this software did not allow the payment I owed CA to be made from the refund I was receiving from my federal return. The reason given was that it was not allowed after Oct. 15. Maybe there really was such a quirk in the laws, but it seems much more likely to be a faulty deadline assumption on the part of H&R's codewriters.

The deluxe version should have the capability to import file from Coinbase etc/ Other than that it was good. For next year if crypto file cannot be imported I will switch to a software that has that capability!
I bought this software because of minor complexities for 2 different filings. The first was for a part year resident for one member of a Married Household. Multiple errors were produced taking a long time to clear. The second was for a deceased single mid-year which little accommodation was made requiring manual calculations outside the system. The continuing issue from prior years is when updating the software there is no barometer as to where you are in the update process.
Knowingly shipped Buggy software and decline to provide fix. Problem is with NY-Efiling when you have negative capital gain (ie. loss). It will NOT efile. This delayed the filing NY state tax and had to pay penalty. Incomplete software when Schedule-K1 is involved. Accuracy checking is misleading. This is performed twice. Once at the end of Federal/State form completion and again, at efile. Both Accuracy check return different result.
