Easy to use

Used for years, with no problems. Just turned 72, and in the planning for next year section, would have been nice to provide a heads up on RMD which I'll need to understand in coming year. Also could improve instructions with hot links for each entry page.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Worked when manual adjustments are required

Took several tries, but finally my return was accepted by the IRS. I also tried Turbo Tax and found while their program has some better features (e.g. the ability to read a PDF version of 1099's) that made input easier ... it was impossible to make a manual adjustment for a valid credit allowed per publication 525 page 37 despite spending almost an hour on their help line. So while Deluxe is missing this feature ... this program allows you to go directly into any form and make the proper corrections.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import documents

Download features failed

THe program failed to import my W2 correctly (my city name has a blank in it and the program wouldn't accept it) and also failed to properly import my 1099-B from Fidelity. I've been using the product successfully for over 10 years but this year it's a mess. Also you don't make it possible to post a bug report so I'm letting you know about the problems via this review.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easiest way to do tax return

Almost look forward to preparing my tax return. Way easier than the old way with paper, pencil & calculator. Worth every penny. And T-Tax has nothing on HRB.

Pleasantly surprised

I was forced into changing from Turbotax, after about 25 years, due to them no longer supporting my Macbook Pro OS. I found this product to be quite similar to Turbotax and was able to pull data in from my previous year's return via PDF file. Pretty impressive. I am not disappointed with this product. It did everything I needed and I was able to complete the return quickly, even though I've never used the product. Nice. Hopefully they won't stop supporting my OS next year. I don't have the budget for buying new equipment.

It Worked.

It worked to do my taxes at a reasonable price. There is some room for improvement, however.
It failed to propagate Medical Expenses, driver's licence ID, and direct deposit information from the Federal return to the State return.
The interview failed to ask about Renewal Energy Credits (REC) which are taxable but do have a 1099 in New Mexico.
The Charitable Organization worksheets were limited to only two pages, requiring me to group many contributions under a single entry.
To get to the "Next" and "Back" buttons the program required the user to scroll down to the bottom of each page. Those buttons would have been accesible from anywhere if placed on the top menu bar or on a separate side bar.
The product-feedback button within the program was difficult to use. Although it stated a 2,000 character limit. I had ti reduce the size of my feedback to well below that to get it work. A 3,000 character limit would have worked better.The error message it gave said it was "unable to connect" when connection was not the issue. They could have included their email address as a simple alternative forproviding product feedback.
The softwaret helped me to accomplish the job, but made it tedious in some areas, required some tax knowledge on my part in others. and made it difficult to provide needed product feedback.
Given the low price I recommend this software to experienced users, but not to a novice who would rely entirely on the Interview to get their taxes right.
In posting this review, the sofware flagged my Nickname, FH040 as previously used. It was previously used by me. That is the sort of annoyance one can expect from H & R Block.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming

Very Easy to use

This is my 4th year using H&R Block software package. The program saves redundant information from the last years returns and enters it on the forms for your review and verification. In short H&R Block Deluxe is fast, easy & accurate.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
