Somewhat confusing input. Not in a logical sequence. If you are retired, then your income is entered AT THE LAST, not the beginning, even though you checked the RETIRED box. Too many hoops to jump through. Does seem to give excellent return benefits. Slow to show refund on screen as you work.
It may be because I've used Block software for many years, but I find it very intuitive, and I feel it gets better every year. By that I'm referring to what they refer to as "the interview" process in which it asks questions about your tax situation and leads you logically though the process of getting most all the blanks filled in. Even the state package gets better. Most answers to questions can be found included in the app. I have found it necessary to seek other help on just a few unusual, probably rare, circumstances.
Very difficult to use, did not help me find all that I could write off, didn’t even remind me about writing off car registration like Tt does. Also waiting for my returns to be accepted, it’s been 6 days and they are still pending, with tt it’s accepted immediately. Will not use again and don’t recommend it
H & R block is great because it takes the figures from last year and automatically puts them in this year. They make it very easy to do your taxes. I highly recommend their package.
Could not download 1099s from Fidelity. Don't know what they changed, but H&R Block was terrible this year! If I wanted to enter all that data I wouldn't have paid for the software!
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
The online software and the downloaded software are not the same nor are they compatible. I started with the online software but gave it up when I couldn't see the forms and assure myself that all of my info was on there correctly before I filed. Things didn't look right to me and I couldn't even review it with your staff because noone could see the forms. They referred me to the downloaded software. Then I couldn't transfer the data to the downloaded version and had to reenter it all manually. I found that the download had a better easier interface for items donated to our local thrift store and was faster and cheaper but that I couldn't use the calculation for estimated tax payments (or print the vouchers for them) because the calculation algorithm doesn't allow for entering non-wage income (which is all I have as a retiree. Your software is quite good, otherwise, but I will probably investigate Turbotax, etc. for next year.
