Makes doing your own taxes doable. Support is a bit challenging to get if you only use the software and don’t go through the online account.

the software works fine. But find the hidden fee to electronically file a state return very deceitful and unethical. You have to pay extra when you purchase the software for state tax returns and then there is an additional fee only discovered when trying to file the state return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Switched to H&R Block from TurboTax a few years ago and never looked back. Software installation and use is a lot less cumbersome than the other S/W. E-Filing is also hassle free and speedy. Cost of the software is very reasonable and is a bonus. Free-E-Filing is great. Three of our household members are currently using it. You can't go wrong.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

It does the job but the UI is clunky and can be confusing. Also needs admin rights to install patches--surely there is a way to modernize this so that is only needed the first time. Best practice is for people not to log into windows with admin accounts and only escalate when needed.
