Mostly gets the job done, but I always have a few issues. Usually it is a question being asked of me that I do not understand and which is not adequately explained. I end up having to do a bunch of reading online to understand what the questions is really asking of me. This year, I had an issue with non-wage income preventing me from filing online. Maybe it's just edge cases that don't impact most people, but I wish there were better help from the software when these issues come up.
I'm 78 and been using for over 10 years. I like that you import data from last years return and this year some of the 1099 data. Saves a lot of manual data entry!
I have used the H&R Block tax software for over 20 years. I have never had a problem with it. The interview mode takes you through the tax return step-by-step and doesn't miss a thing. I also appreciate that the Deduction Pro software is included. It takes the guesswork out of valuing clothing and household items donated to charitable organizations.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I have been using HR Block software for years with great success. It’s very easy to use and it will walk you through the steps to complete your taxes accurately.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Prep was made more difficult because HRB doesn’t have very robust foreign tax credit module. Also found that package wasn’t quite ready for release - my return was rejected twice for problems with the software, not the return, that were not resolved for several weeks.
