Good software but software should add questions about serving as a Personal Representative for a deceased persons estate, and also for receiving inheritance. My last years personal info did not transfer to this years return.
There are some glitches to watch out for, but over all, the program beats out the competition. There are pitfalls if you file in New York City. In that case, you need to treat state and local as one, contrary to what the program tries to get you to enter. And if you deduct long-term health care premiums and enter a deduction subtraction, the instructions will send you on a wild goose chase for the proper forms. If you know to look out for such foul-ups, it all works.
Always makes doing and filing taxes at both Federal and State level very easy and straightforward. Plus you have the assurance that the latest tax code changes are applied correctly, and explained clearly to you as you go through the tax preparation dialogue.
Mostly easy to use except for unusual items like K1 passive investments, California HSA taxable gains, & California partial year health coverage penalty form.
I've been using this software for years. It's great to go through the interview so that none of the items that you may need to report or left out. Explanations are easy to understand and the software flows smoothly through the process. It's nice that any new tax laws are included so that the right questions are asked of the user when putting together a return. It takes the pain & angst out of doing an annual return!
