I've used this program for years and I'm very happy with it. It downloads last years information perfectly and it's really easy to use

I have used the H&R Block software since 2006. The federal tax questionnaire is logical, well organized and mostly intuitive. It remembers entries from the previous year and reminds you about the sources of income you had before so you don't forget one. Data you enter are carried through to the state return, so there is very little additional effort required later. As with all tax preparation software, you need to have your income and deduction papers ready before you start, and know enough about the rules to understand some of the questions. But the program does its best to help. E-filing is a breeze and you get regular status reports.
The Iowa program is a little bit quirky (but then, Iowa income taxes have some bizarre features).
