Mostly satisfactory but some unclear directions

Filling out forms was generally straight forward with a few confusing instructions. For some unexplained reason I had to e file both federal and state forms twice. Consequently I was charged twice for my state return. My attempts to use the help lines were futile. The online chat room gave no way to submit my questions. The telephone service was grossly inadequate and I finally had to terminate the call after about a half hour with no resolution as to why my first attempts to e file failed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The program stops working from time to time and closes itself on Mac computer. The same problem occurred with the 2021 version but it still exists.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Virginia Tax Preparation needs help

I wanted to apply the state tax refund to the 2023 estimated taxes, but when I printed before filing I discovered that my the box was checked to mail the refund. This should be revised.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

I have used this software for many years and in my situation it has always given me good results, been easy to use and I continue to get my returns done in a reasonable time and get my money from the Federal and State quickly, without problems.

This software is quick and easy as it walks me through each step of the IRS return process. It includes easy updates and is transparent in filling in my State return.
Seven years in a row now with no IRS problems using H&R Block Deluxe & State.

I have used H&RBlock software or its predecessors (Taxcut 1040) for the last thirty or so years. I only used professional tax support a couple of times during that period, and that was to handle LLC reporting and some complex estate reporting issues. This year's software made me aware of a tax credit from replacing my HVAC equipment. An unexpected surprise.

It mirrors the irs sheets but when doing out taxes we need a little more explanation of some entities. Luckily I went over my taxes 3 times.

Absolutely terrible...useless support

I bought this for Federal and State. Many software crashes, hours of being on hold and then getting dropped. When I did get through they had no idea how to help.
