Federal worked better than state for me.

The only issue I experienced with the Federal program was that I had some difficulty importing my W2 data. I entered in my name and address, then it was able to import, but then required that I enter in several W2 values to confirm that it was correct. I suspect the issue was that last year's data had "Pl" instead of "Place" in my street address.
I had more issues with my State return, although my situation is somewhat abnormal. I live in Indiana, but work in Kentucky and the locality where I work taxes me, which is offset against county taxes where I live using 3 calculations on a schedule and choosing the least amount. I completed my State tax return, and the program said there were no issues, until I tried to e-file. Then it said there was an issue, but didn't direct me where to resolve it, so I ended up filing my State return via certified mail, which is cheaper than e-filing (which, as I side-rant, I really don't understand because someone must have to spend more time entering data from a paper return than simply importing digital data, so why would it cost more?). I didn't have issues last year, but I did this one, so I'd probably still recommend H&R Block, although I expect it'll take longer to get my State refund than it should.

iOS version will not download free state program

For two years is a row, the Apple iOS version would not download the free state program. There were also problems with down loading the federal updates. Since I bought the program that would also work on a pc, I had to use it to complete my federal and state return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software has always done the job over a number of years. They do the detailed homework, so very few glitches ever cause momentary issues. But, with complicated software challenges, new tax laws every year, they get the job done.
